Module 5 Activities

Planning to Facilitate a Workshop:

Please see below the planning steps for a workshop:

Step 1

Objectives:

1. Participants will understand what course offerings are;

2. Participants will identify where course offerings are used and why;

3. Participants will be able to create new course offerings.

4. Participants will be able to edit existing course offerings.

Step 2

Assessment: Participants will demonstrate by creating a new course offering record and will also edit information on an existing course offering.

Step 3

Activity 1: Participants will create a new course offering record on Salesforce, and then edit it, following a printed step-by-step that will be handed out.

Activity 2: Participants will share and compare their different approaches, discussing what the difficulties are.

Step 4

I will demonstrate with a presentation, and will also hand out printed instructions so participants can follow along.

Facilitation Skills:

Other two challenges that I can think of that I might encounter are: technology difficulties and unexpected interruptions. The former might be participants having problems logging in, accessing Salesforce, navigating the system, or following my demonstration. To address this, I would test the technology before the workshop, and have participants confirm access in advance when possible. I could also prepare a step-by-step written instruction so participants could continue following the activity if they fall behind. Also having a backup activity would also help if the system or internet connection becomes unavailable. Regarding the unexpected interruptions where participants might arrive late, need to leave temporarily, receive urgent calls, or be interrupted by other responsibilities, I would divide the workshop into short sections so participants could more easily rejoin the session. I could also provide slides and written instructions so they could review anything they missed. And finally giving a brief recap at the beginning of each section before moving forward could be helpful.
